Gerty Simon

Vice President - Wealth Management

Wealth Management Field Diversity Officer

Gerty is the Wealth Management Field Diversity Officer, at Morgan Stanley.

In 2019 she joined the Morgan Stanley Diversity & Inclusion team, responsible for the

development and integration of Morgan Stanley’s field strategy for recruiting and retaining

diverse talent, fostering an inclusive work environment, and ensuring management

accountability for diversity, equity, and inclusion. She has built a philosophy around the 3D’s –

Define, Distill, and Deliver the firm to the field, so it is digestible and understood as additive to

the Managers and Advisor’s she works closely with.

Gerty Simon joined Morgan Stanley in 2014 as Complex Business Development Manager with

more than 16 years of financial services experience, holding several positions at various

investment banking firms - including 12 years as an Investment Associate at UBS Financial

Service Inc., with a leading private wealth management team., managing over $3 billion in

assets and listed on Barron’s Top 100 Team ranking 2002, thru her departure in 2014.

A native New Yorker, Gerty received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from

St. John’s University. A strong believer in giving back to the community, she has enjoyed

mentoring high school girls preparing for college through her involvement with the Student

Sponsorship Program and spent many years engaged with Timkatec, a homeless shelter for

children in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, founded by her Uncle Pere Joseph Simon.

Gerty is a founder and former member of Morgan Stanley’s MA IDEAL Council, and the

Women’s Business Development Council - LIFT, both internal groups within Morgan Stanley,

comprised of professional women and men dedicated to supporting and lifting their peers.

She is also a member of the Black Employee Networking Group, the Wealth Management

Multicultural Networking Group, and Women’s Business Alliance. She co-founded WHEW –

Women Helping to Empower Women and is a Board member of the Haitian Women’s Alliance, a

professional organization dedicated to building a community of women across all sectors.

She serves on the Diversity Advisory Board (DAG) of the Certified Board of Standards (CFP) andsits on the Advisory Board for the Historically Black College and University - Bowie State

University.

Named to the Makers Class of 2019 at Morgan Stanley – recognizing women across Wealth

Management who serve as groundbreakers, innovators, and advocates in their field.

She holds her Series 7 and 65 registrations, Life, and Health Insurance Licenses, as well as the

McKinsey Accelerator Management certification. She has a passion for traveling, boxing, art collecting, the theater, and dinner parties.
